DDG Brauner urges members to step up efforts in early 2021 to agree on fish, other issues

Addressing heads of WTO member delegations on behalf of the four Deputy Directors-General on 14 December, DDG Karl Brauner called for renewed efforts in the new year to achieve convergence in ongoing negotiations, particularly on fisheries subsidies. While recognizing that members “will not deliver an agreement on fisheries this year,” he noted that considerable progress had been made towards an accord, and emphasized that members do not need to “wait for MC12 or any other deadline” to resolve remaining gaps.
